Gin & Tonic

A dear friend gave me this quote which sits in my kitchen – she knows I LOVE a G&T.

There is a fantastic array of Gins to choose from today. Your gin and tonic can become an entirely new experience with each gin you pour. For a traditional G&T, a London Dry Gin like Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire are a good choice or you can opt for the cucumber notes of Hendrick’s.

Our Australian Gins are world class, far too many list here… a couple of my favourites are Archie Rose and Four Pillars. One thing to keep in mind is that your gin and tonic is only as good as both the gin and the tonic.

If you are wanting to pair your Gin with more than Tonic, there are literally hundreds of options.

A current favourite is a Negroni, and of course who could go past a classic Martini… ‘shaken, not stirred’ aka James Bond.

Gin and Tonic

Print Recipe

Ingredients

  • The Perfect G& T
  • Ice
  • Gin
  • Tonic water, my favourite is Fever Tree
  • Garnishes such as lemon slices, limes slices cucumber & mint

Instructions

1

Start by filling a good sized glass with ice cubes . Larger ice cubes work best as they provide less surface area for the ice to melt.

2

Pour the gin over the ice.

3

Fill each glass with tonic water and garnish with an additional lime wedge.

Notes

As for the ratio of Gin to Tonic, remember a Gin and Tonic should be crisp and refreshing. Some enjoy equal parts gin to tonic, others reduce the gin and double the tonic. For me, I like it right in the middle, which keeps the drink light and crisp, but still aromatic from the Gin.
